Pool Gifts for Someone Who Already Owns a Pool

The best pool gifts fit the pool the person already owns. Match the pool type and the pump before you shop. This list covers gear for above-ground pool owners, from skimmer nets to cleaners made for above-ground pools, plus inflatable hot tubs, with one pick per brand. I'm married to a man who reads the data plate before the box, so every note here starts with what the listing states.

An above-ground pool behind a fence with a closed gate, the ladder set aside, a skimmer net and a gift box on a patio table

How this list is builtGear for someone who already owns an above-ground pool — cleaners made for above-ground pools or handheld, skimmers — and inflatable hot tubs. Heaters are left out (a household decision, often a licensed install). One pick per brand and at most six of any one kind.

Pool gifts for someone who already owns a pool

Pool gifts work best when they solve a chore the owner already has. Leaves on the water. Dirt on the floor. A net with a bent rim. This page lists gear for someone who already owns an above-ground pool, plus inflatable hot tubs, with the specs each listing states. The notes under the table say who each one fits and when to skip it.

The safety note for pools appears on this page because every pool gift is a pool gift first. The gear here helps keep the water clean. It doesn't replace an adult watching the water, a barrier or a closed gate. None of the products on this list are safety equipment.

How this list was built

The rule is short. A product made the list if it's a skimmer, a cleaner made for above-ground pools (or a handheld or manual one), or an inflatable hot tub. We kept one pick per brand, so no single maker fills the table.

Every spec comes from the maker or the Amazon listing as of 2026-10-31. A blank in our data stays blank, and the note says so. Nobody in this family has set up or run these particular products. What we can tell you is what each listing says and what it means for the pool you're shopping for.

Start with the pool they have

Here's my one opinion on this page. Buy gear for the pool the person owns, not the pool on the box. The listings tell you whether a product fits. Pool type, above-ground or in-ground, decides the cleaners. The pump's flow decides the hose-powered skimmers: the VINGLI listing gives a minimum of 800 GPH (gallons per hour). The owner's pole and hose decide a manual vacuum head.

So before you shop, find out a few things:

This family learned to start with the ground, not the gear. In 2023 my son-in-law Ken and our daughter Maya picked a spot for an above-ground pool kit that "looked flat". Dell ran a string line across it and found a slope. They moved to a new spot before anything was set up. The lesson stuck with all of us: the facts about the yard come first, then the shopping.

Skimmers: the small gifts for pool owners

Skimmers are the easiest pool gifts to get right. A hand skimmer net is the one tool every pool owner reaches for. The Swimline Hydrotools 8040 listing says its net works on above-ground and in-ground pools. The Pentair 124S is a hand skimmer net too, per its listing. Either makes a fair spare, because the old net is always the one with the bent rim leaning on the fence.

The VINGLI floating skimmer is a step up. Its listing describes a hose-powered surface skimmer with a basket, a hose and 10 skimmer socks, for above-ground pools. It needs a pump that moves at least 800 GPH, per the listing.

Dell's take: "Read the pump's plate before you buy anything that hooks up to it. The number you need is on the plate, not on the gift box."

I'd add one step to Dell's rule. Take a phone photo of the plate and keep it with your gift list. Plates tend to live wherever is hardest to read, and nobody wants to crouch beside a pump twice in one week. It also settles any family debate about the number on the spot.

The WYBOT F1 works another way. Its listing describes a solar robotic skimmer with an 8-hour runtime and a 7 L basket. It doesn't hook up to the pump at all, so it's the skimmer to pick when you don't know the pump. It does need sun on the water.

Our pond has never once asked anyone to skim it. A pool under trees is less forgiving. Its owner gets a net and a standing appointment with it.

Pool cleaners: handheld, manual, suction-side and robotic

The cleaners in the table come in four kinds:

The Blue Wave Pool Blaster Fusion PV-5 is the handheld one. Its listing gives a 40-minute runtime for above-ground pools. It suits someone who likes a quick touch-up before guests come over.

The Hayward SP1068 is a manual vacuum head, per its listing. It suits an owner who already vacuums by hand and has a pole and hose. Check the listing for fit before you buy one.

The Doheny's ProVac Plus is a suction-side cleaner for above-ground pools, per its listing. It works off the pool's own filter system, so check that the maker's fit matches the pump and skimmer.

The AIPER and Beatbot are cordless robots whose listings name both pool types. AIPER's listing gives a 90-minute runtime. Beatbot's listing gives wall climbing and pools up to 2,260 sq ft. A robot is the gift for someone who would rather sit on the patio than push a pole.

The Dolphin Escape listing names both above-ground and in-ground pools, but our data doesn't list its cleaner kind or runtime. Check the listing before you buy it.

Picking between the kinds comes down to how much the owner wants to do. A handheld vacuum is for the person who likes to see the floor get clean and doesn't mind holding a pole for it. A manual head is for someone who already has the routine and needs a part. A suction-side cleaner is for the person whose pump already runs every day and who wants that pump to pull a cleaner along too. A robot is for the person who wants the job done while they're at work. If the listing doesn't name the owner's kind of pool, keep looking.

Inflatable hot tubs for pool owners

Each inflatable hot tub listing gives its seat count: 3 for the Bestway SaluSpa St. Lucia, 4 for the Coleman SaluSpa Miami, 6 for the Intex PureSpa Greywood Deluxe and the MSpa Oslo. The Coleman and Intex listings give a 104°F maximum. The Bestway and MSpa listings state app control.

A hot tub needs a level, firm spot that holds it full, the outlet the maker calls for and a cover that locks. The CPSC says hot tub water should never be warmer than 104°F. It suggests checking with an accurate thermometer before getting in, because a thermostat can be off by a few degrees. Follow the maker's temperature and soak-time limits. Anyone who is pregnant or has a health condition should ask a doctor first.

What isn't on this list

Pool chemicals aren't here. They're stored and used exactly as the label says, never mixed, and the pool's owner knows which ones their water takes. Pool heaters aren't here either. They need the right size for the pool, the right power or gas supply and an installer, so they're a household decision, not a gift. Pool ladders, fences and covers aren't here. Those are safety and fit decisions that belong to the owner and the pool's manual, not a gift tag.

If you want to help with safety, ask the owner what they need, and let them pick it.

Gifts for pool owners, matched to the person

The owner who skims every morning with coffee in one hand will use a hand skimmer net or a floating skimmer more than anything else on this page. Those are the easy wins.

The owner who dreads vacuuming is the one for a cleaner. A handheld suits a small pool and a person who likes a quick job. A robot suits someone who'd rather not think about the floor at all, as long as the listing names their pool type.

The owner who's out of town every other weekend may like the solar skimmer. It keeps working on the surface while the house is empty, as long as the sun shows up.

The household that wants warm water in every month is the one for a hot tub, with the safety rules that come with it.

Who should skip a pool gift

Skip the robots and hot tubs for anyone who hasn't asked for one. They're big purchases with fit rules, and the owner may already have a plan.

Skip a hose-powered skimmer if you don't know the pump's flow. Skip a suction-side cleaner if you don't know the pump and skimmer setup. Skip a manual vacuum head if you don't know the pole. A hand skimmer net is the safe choice when you don't know the pool at all.

Skip a hot tub for a household without a level, firm spot, the right outlet and the time to keep the water clean. And if the person is thinking about putting in a first pool, skip pool gear entirely. Give them a string line and a tape measure. Ken would approve.

How we picked, in full

  1. Started from every live Amazon US listing in our data for pool skimmers, cleaners made for above-ground pools or used by hand, and inflatable hot tubs.
  2. Kept one product per brand.
  3. Took specs from the maker or the listing only; blanks stay blank.
  4. Checked the list on 2026-10-31. It refreshes weekly, so a sold-out model drops off on its own.

For more of each kind, see pool vacuums and cleaners, pool skimmers and inflatable hot tubs. For yard and porch gifts, there's outdoor gifts.

Questions people ask

What do you get someone who has a pool?

Something that fits their pool. A hand skimmer net works on almost any pool. A floating skimmer needs a pump that meets the flow its listing gives. A cleaner has to match the pool type, above-ground or in-ground, and a manual vacuum head has to fit the owner's pole and hose. Ask about the pool, or check its manual, before you buy.

What are good gifts for pool owners on a smaller budget?

The skimmer nets. Hand skimmer nets sit in the lowest price tier in our data for this page, and the VINGLI hose-powered skimmer and the Blue Wave handheld vacuum sit in the lower tiers too. They're small, useful and easy to wrap. The robotic cleaners and the hot tubs sit in the higher tiers.

Is a robotic pool cleaner a good gift for an above-ground pool?

It can be, if the listing says it fits. The AIPER and Beatbot listings name both above-ground and in-ground pools. The AIPER listing gives a 90-minute runtime, and the Beatbot listing gives wall climbing and pools up to 2,260 sq ft. Check the maker's pool-type and size limits against the pool first.

What is a solar pool skimmer?

A floating skimmer that runs on its own solar panel and battery and collects leaves and debris from the water's surface into a basket. The WYBOT F1 listing describes a solar robotic skimmer with an 8-hour runtime and a 7 L basket. It doesn't connect to the pool's pump, which makes it an easy gift when you don't know the pump.

Is an inflatable hot tub a good gift for a pool owner?

It can be, with a plan. The listings give the seat count for each tub; the Bestway lists 3 and the Intex lists 6. The CPSC says hot tub water should never be warmer than 104°F and suggests checking with an accurate thermometer. Follow the maker's limits, keep it covered and locked when it's not in use, and ask a doctor first if anyone is pregnant or has a health condition.
